Big, beautiful and so easily self-managed, the new 19-metre Contest 63CS is the absolute must-have 60+footer. And Europe’s top yachting editors agree, awarding this newcomer Luxury European Yacht of the Year 2025! “The definitive luxury cruiser for 2025,” say the judges. “A superyacht level of finish and engineering and attention to detail; intoxicating sailing performance; sublime yet unpretentious lines; not an inch of space that is not put to good use.”
Designed for hassle-free, high performance in the lightest to heaviest weathers, the graceful, well-set, balanced lines are from top naval architects judel/vrolijk & co. Interior styling is by superyacht stars Wetzels Brown, who introduce two identical, half-beam, VIP double guest suites forward of the saloon. Rare at this size, these are even retained when opting for a four- in place of three-cabin configuration.
EXTERIOR
Although in the 'mid-sixties' sector, this yacht is still all about family and friends in control. Working the yacht. Enjoying the entirety of the sailing and the huge space both above and below deck. It’s about smart sailing with simple but sophisticated short-handed sailing systems. The option of carbon or aluminium rigs and the choice of in-boom or in-mast reefing. In-boom for more performance sail shape, full sail to reefed. In-mast for even more speedy, simpler reefing.
And for even more ease there's the option of self-tacking jib. This simplicity in operation is core to the Contest short-handed and owner-driven philosophy. And the Contest 63CS is so responsive. Feeling like a big boat yet with the ease of a dinghy. Gliding over the water at nine knots upwind easily, with fingertip steering and so secure. Matching wind and boat speeds in lighter breezes. And so easy to sail with clear sight lines and everything to hand at the helm stations, again meaning no need to go forward. So simple.
The deck and cockpit arrangements introduce another neat Contest innovation: twin helm seats that can be set to swivel, which with handily stowed folding table transform the enormous aft deck into another great shared social space for relaxing, chatting and enjoying a sundowner. Bring out the beanbags and enjoy this lazing space, too. Open the pushpit guard rail and fold down the steps to the lowered bathing platform and launch the tender from its transom garage. And through the revealed aft-facing hull window, wave to those in the master suite!
INTERIOR
With higher profiled topsides and broader beam, judel/vrolijk’s new hull form for the 63CS is a gift to Contest interior design partners Wetzels Brown. These two new identical half-beam VIP suites forward of the mast. A wider saloon space. And similarly enlarged master suite aft.
The perfect interior proportions to move to the next level in creating light airy spaces, with more hull windows, hi-tech LED lighting, soft colour palette. And feature bulkheads, curved ribbed wood or vertical, irregular leather panels, loosening the feel of space and symmetry. Modernity refreshed.
